When
many people think of a vision test, usually they think of reading letters
on an eye chart. However, this is only a small part of what we do.
Not only do we test your vision, but your eyes are examined both externally
and internally. We look for cataracts and glaucoma,
as well as many other conditions affecting your eyes. Our office is equipped
with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, the 
latest diagnostic software,
and the latest innovations in eyewear
and contact lenses.Our doctors can treat eye infections and eye diseases
such as glaucoma. We can remove foreign bodies from the eye surfaces and
also treat ocular disorders such as dry eyes and keratoconus. Many serious
eye conditions have no symptoms. That's why it's important to have a thorough
eye exam once a year.
Dr. Heimlich and Associates are proud to be the first eye care practice
in Lake County, IL and in the Buffalo Grove area to have the latest technology in eye examinations - 
the Optomap™ Retinal Exam. The Panoramic 200™ Retinal Imaging System(OPTOS)
will produce the most comprehensive
image of your retina (which is located at the back of the eye) and allow
us to perform a more thorough exam than was previously possible. This
will help us with early detection of any retinal abnormality. The result
is that we can better prevent or reduce vision loss in our patients with
a simple, quick and patient-friendly new examination. The Optomap exam
requires no dilating drops, therefore no inconvenience associated with
pupil dilation, blurred vision and light sensitivity afterwards.
Early diagnosis of Glaucoma is essential to the success of treatment.
Dr Heimlich and Associates have the latest technology in the diagnosis
and follow-up of patient
s who have glaucoma. The GDx VCC™ is the latest laser diagnostic test that allows us to measure the thickness
of
the nerve fiber layer of the retina. The nerve fiber layer is that part
of the retina believed to be effected first in glaucoma. Therefore, the GDx VCC™ will help us diagnose glaucoma at an earlier stage
than present subjective visual field testing. It is a quick and easy test
that requires no pupil dilation or long lasting blurred vision and light
sensitivity. It's just like having your picture taken, but without the
flash.
As a part of the evaluation, diagnosis and management of Glaucoma and
other vision diseases, the "Zeiss" Humphrey™ Visual Fields (HFA) is the gold
standard of visual fields analysis. It is used to obtain the most reliable
tests of sensi
tivity in the vision.

Procedures
Many patients choose contact lenses as an alternative to eyeglasses. Our office provides complete professional care, from the initial evaluation to follow-up visits. We carry the widest range of lenses - disposable, planned replacement, standard, and custom design (spherical, toric, and bifocal) in soft and gas permeable materials. Proper fitting technique, follow-up care and training are crucial to successful contact lens wear. We provide all of this at competitive prices.
Remember when you had only two choices in contact lenses? "Hard" (rigid gas permeable) lenses were best for crisp, clear vision, but were often irritating and uncomfortable. Soft lenses were the most comfortable, but often provided less-than-optimal vision. Now, a technological breakthrough makes having to choose a thing of the past.

We make every effort to keep our charges and payment policies fair and equitable. Keeping appointments and prompt payments allow us to keep costs competitive. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we require 24 hours notice so your valuable appointment time can be given to another patient. Also for your convenience, we accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover
We accept most eyecare insurance plans as direct payment and ask that you pay any copay at the time of your visit. We will gladly provide you with all the information necessary for filing your claim.
